Gold wrapped in gold

World premiere: For the first time a Cradle to Cradle CertifiedTM GOLD product is offered in a Cradle to Cradle CertifiedTM GOLD packaging.
The Nuscheli* from Hautli Haus Kids/Johann Müller AG are available in beautiful packaging from Vögeli AG in sets of 3.

*A Swiss German word which roughly translates to “blankie” or “lovey” in English. Fold it diagonally to wear as a scarf for drooling, as a bib, or as a head bandana. Or use it unfolded as a burp or wash cloth. In Switzerland, Nuscheli are irreplaceable for everyday life and a vital companion for the baby years.

Vögeli is the first printer in the world to achieve the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ GOLD award for its products.

Since February 1st this year, Vögeli is able to produce his products according to the very high standard of Cradle to Cradle Certified™ GOLD. Since then, several Cradle to Cradle Certified™ GOLD Pureprint products like prospectus, brochures and packaging did leave the production site of Vögeli. In 2019, Vögeli could double its Pureprint production, so far.
The first Cradle to Cradle Certified™ GOLD Pureprint product was a tool, which helps other companies and organizations, to move forward with their sustainable behavior:

gugler* at the Frankfurt Book Fair

For the third time, gugler* was represented at the Frankfurt Book Fair with a booth made of natural materials. Under the motto “HIGHLY EXCEPTIONAL”, gugler* was showing the publishing industry how healthy, pollutant-free and recyclable Cradle to Cradle production can help differentiate itself from the competition in the future.

The Frankfurt Book Fair had 8% more visitors than in 2018. Exactly 302 267. Long live the book! And here is a quote from a visitor: “I went through the halls and everything was so sterile and lifeless and then I saw the booth of gugler*, who really shone out from the crowd out. Here is life. Here I can recharge my batteries. The gugler* booth is made of real wood and looks powerful and pithy.”

Wolford Launches Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Collection inkl. Packaging

Lingerie brand Wolford’s first Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Gold certified product collection, including a pair of leggings and a pullover, has recently hit stores – packed in Cradle to Cradle certified folding boxes produced by gugler*. After their life cycle with customers naturally ends, Wolford will take back the products for industrial composting, closing the loop by using the products’ smart ingredients as nutrients for our planet like as humus and biogas.

The Print the Change Community is going to start a pilot phase for new printing inks. We will test a new printing ink which is going for a gold certification level.

The first to start with the test runs is Markus Vögeli in Switzerland at Vögeli AG. His gained experience will be shared with the manufacturer of the ink for possible fine-tuning of the ink.

Doing what’s right

On Thursday, 30 August, Vögeli AG organized the event “Products 5.0 – Are Your Products Future Proof?” and welcomed almost 70 guests who were all fascinated at the end.

In workshops, specialists from ETH Zürich and EPEA Switzerland supported the participants to find ways in which our society will not have to give up luxury and comfort despite a shortage of resources – with products that are future proof.

Saskia Harthoorn and Anita van Rozen from the embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands demonstrated how the Dutch want to secure the future of their society by transforming their recycling management system by 2050.

Based on the Cradle to Cradle® concept, Katja Hansen, Director of the Healthy Printing Initiative, demonstrated how we can also master our greatest challenges with the correct use of our intelligence.

Paper – a natural product?

According to Katja Hansen, global paper consumption is constantly increasing, and will continue to do so. The reasons for this are above all the substitution of plastic and online shopping, which drives the use of cardboard packaging first and foremost. This makes it urgently necessary that we use our paper resources with care. There are, however, major quality problems when it comes to paper recycling. For example, recycled paper cannot be used for food packaging because the toxic chemicals it contains could transfer to the food. For similar reasons, waste created during the recycling process needs to be treated as hazardous waste.

Vögeli AG, with its Cradle to Cradle Certified™ printed materials, is the first and, until now, only company in Switzerland that can manufacture printed materials that are recyclable and therefore healthy and safe for the biological cycle.
